Team events & arena management
The Community Sports project is a development programme to promote sport, exercise, healthy living and good wellbeing to the local community in the South Hams, Teignbridge and Torbay areas. The project is aimed at a wide range of people including children in low income, urban and rural areas, also creating opportunities for members of the local Community of all ages in a safe and secure environment ensuring participation in sport and enjoyable exercise and social involvement, in addition encouraging football at all levels, ages and gender, also promoting and running well being sessions to help improve and to encourage over 55 fitness with series of events at all levels of ability.
The programme will be delivered by qualified staff suited to learning with general progression in all areas of sport and exercise, the extensive programme will be supported within each area by the working partners including South Dartmoor Sports Partnership, Teignbridge Council and South Hams Council.
Working in over 60 schools in East Devon as part of the curiculum, Community Sports Staff work closely with staff in the schools to develope the programme within the schools making it available to most of the pupils whatever their level of ability, in addition creating a timetable of after school activities and clubs at grass roots level, the project includes working with children with special needs and that are less abled, the programme also includes after community soccer days and community sports days.
The Community Sports Programme supports the CLIC Sargent the charity that cares for children and young people with cancer, the Community Sports Programme will be raising funds with fundraising events throughout the year.
